We are on a dark sky site in Australia at Pomonal. A picturesque rural village on the eastern slopes of the Mt William Range which is a part of the Grampians Victoria. It is 20 km south-west of Stawell, 15 km south-east of Halls Gap and 240 km north-west of Melbourne.
As can be seen I have very dark rural skiesĀ at an elevation of 280mt. which is unhindered by trees and artificial light.
The Bortle Scale is used by Astronomers to gauge the night sky’s brightness. Here at Pomonal the night sky brightness is rated around 1.4 – 1.8 which is very dark.
